Chris just called. To add to what Becki indicated below everyone is fine - no
sickness, accidents or injuries. They
have had great weather and no gear failures.
All in all everyone is having an experience they will
remember for the rest of their lives.
The leaders will try to call every day
but cell service is extremely limited.
Their best shot at getting a call out in the future will be Saturday evening.

Crew 727-G7 Update – 7/30/09
Today Mr. Shrout climbed and climbed and climbed to get high enough on the
mountain to call home. (We are not sure
whether he employed the buddy system but we are grateful that he took it upon
himself
to check in with his family back home.) Below is the information Becki
Shrout
passed along earlier this evening:
I
just got a call from 5000 ft up and all is well. They are having a great time.
The rain is off and on and not holding
them back at all. I asked John to share something fun they had done and he said
that they went
into a logging camp last night and the staff (7 staff members) challenged all of
the boys (about 50) to
a game of Logger Ball (something similar to baseball). They had fun but the
staff cheated and
somehow won the game. They then climbed (the staff) on top of the roof of a
cabin to perform skits
and songs for the boys. The boys loved it. Spirits are high and everyone
is in good shape.
John Shrout said he is so glad that he was able to go on this trip. He said
he would try and
call again on Saturday from Baldy.
Will
report more as it comes in.
