Day 10
After a good nights
sleep at Porcupine
we packed up and hit the trail.
Phillips Junction was
our next stop. We did
our conservation project here as well as pick
up food from the commissary.
Philmont was adding some
new trails and we had
the opportunity to help. What an ingenious
indentured servant program.
Our job was to extend
the trail. We busted rocks
and help lay timbers. At times it looked like the
New Mexico Department of Corrections.
Stay in School!!!!
We also had a chance to
meet some pretty girls
while we on the mountain.
We did the same trick
with our food this time and
managed to leave a lot behind. It sure did help
the pack weights.
Our next stop was
Beaubien for some
horseback riding. It is a beautiful camp. This was also
our layover camp.
Reid took advantage of
the chance to dry out
his cloths. Check out the laundry tree.
This was a very
beautiful valley.
Check out these suspects.
Beaubien had a staffed
program that evening
that we went to and some what enjoyed.
Time for bed.
