Day 9
The next morning we had
the chance to do
the black powder rifle activity. It was a new
experience for most of us.
Before we left camp we
took the time to throw
some tomahawks. Something city boys don't get
a chance to do very often.
More staff!!!
The trail from Clear
Creek was probably the
most beautiful of the trip. We followed Rayado Creek
to our next camp site at Porcupine.
The Rayado Creek was very nice to hike along.
We made the decision
wait on lunch and hike
on into camp. This turned out to be another good
choice since as soon as we made camp it started
threatening rain.
As soon as we finished
lunch several hiked
to the next food pick up point and brought back
our next few days of food. Some of the rest of us
took a side hike to Crooked Creek to tour the
Homestead. It was still raining slightly when it
turned cold and started to hail.
Yes, that is hail on the ground.
The staff at Crooked
Creek was probably some
of the best we encountered on the trip. They had
taken the time to learn the history of the
camp and the area. We also had a chance to
try our hand at some wood cutting.
Chicken chasers!!!
Back at Porcupine the
weather was still wet
and cold. The motion was made to use the cabin
close to our camp for dinner. It worked out great.
Dry and warm for supper.
Time for bed.
